«Three Men on the Bummel» is a novel which became a logical sequel of the most popular work of the well-known English writer Jerome K. Jerome (1859-1927) «Three Men in a Boat (to Say Nothing of the Dog)». Unlike his previous book in which the author humorously depicts his fellow-countrymen, here he focuses his attention on the inhabitants of Germany. The characters travel through the country getting into various comic situations and watch the life of Germans who are used to maintain order in everything. Thus, unbelievably original, witty and vivid things from the life of German town-dwellers and villagers appear before our eyes. Easy style of narration, the character’s benevolence and the power of observation, their ability to unconventionally perceive life carry the readers away right from the very first pages.
